Steampunk Weddings

First of all apologies as this week's update is a little late! First of all there were hassles with my web host (hosting the www.the-elegant-wedding.com) and then the Easter Bunny arrived, with the holidays she brings (not to mention the Easter eggs!) however we're here to talk about weddings of course, so without further ado... This week I thought I'd write about the steampunk theme. What is steampunk? For those who don't know or have never heard of this theme before, think Victorian era meets science fiction...think Jules Verne, H.G. Wells, Terry Pratchett, the latest incarnation of Sherlock Holmes in the movie theatres with Robert Downey Jr... It's Victorian dress crossed with technology and industrial machinery like steam trains and flying machines, lots of brass, copper and metal offset by velvet and lace - what a combo! Indian Weddings

When I first sat down to write this blog update, my original idea was to write about Asian weddings, but while I was doing my research quickly discovered that the Asian wedding market is huge - too big, in fact, for one little blog update. When I think of India I think of one word: color. India has to be the most colorful nation on earth. The magnificent Indian Color Festival otherwise known as Holi http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holi is a tradition which will be celebrated from the 27th Marc...

Country Weddings ~ Part 1

Country weddings are a great idea not only for country dwellers, but for all those who love the down to earth, natural, organic feel of the countryside. All bride and grooms are different of course, so one couple's idea of a country wedding will be vastly different to another couple's. Some people will think, 'ah, country', and immediately envision vintage, homespun wedding favors, a farm setting with rusty old tractors in the fields and old farm equipment hanging on barn walls and horses and cows roaming around freely in the paddocks in the distance. They'll think of outdoor trestle tables with vases of fresh flowers and gingham tablecloths, hurricane lanterns hanging from surrounding trees, dogs running around everywhere and so on. Other couples may envision grand old country manors with magnificent gardens, fairytale horse and carriages, spectacular marquees with metres upon metres of tulle hanging from every corner, quaint English-cottage style garden furniture ...
