Thinking about a Red themed wedding?

Thinking of having a color-themed wedding with a strong color that really stands out? What about a red theme? It's bold and beautiful, and it'll be very memorable...not only for you, but your guests too! Here are some great ideas~~

* Red and pink petals on the ground or floor, particularly around the edge of the aisle (but not too many down the aisle itself - you don't want anyone slipping on them!) scattered on the sand if you're getting married on a beach...but why not on the tables or in small scatters on the floor of your reception venue? Sadly not in the church, because I know a lot of ministers and other church officials probably wouldn't like it...what a shame! But, it's a definite idea for the tables at the reception.

* A vintage-look red hair comb jewel. Why not make one yourself? Take a plain hair comb, and attach a favourite piece of red jewellery, such as a broach or pendant (if you can temporarily remove the chain, or even wrap the chain around the comb?) with a little imagination you can come up with some amazing looks! And the best thing about it would be that if you can't find exactly what you want in the stores or online, you still get a beautiful head jewel. Unique, original and all yours. :)

* A red wedding garter adds a sexy touch! And what's more, it's more unforgettable than your normal pink, white, cream or pale blue one.

* Red wedding shoes will really make you stand out from the bridal crowd, too. :)

Red sashes on the backs of chairs (or even the side of a church pew) add a very classy touch of red.

Zazzle have some great red wedding invitations that you can check out below. The best thing about them? Not only are they red (of course ;-) but they can be completely customized to include your own info. such as names, dates, places. Another big advantage is that if you need to order quite a large number (and who doesn't when ordering wedding invitations?) they work out to be much, much cheaper when you order them in bulk:~~

Indian Weddings

When I first sat down to write this blog update, my original idea was to write about Asian weddings, but while I was doing my research quickly discovered that the Asian wedding market is huge - too big, in fact, for one little blog update. Why is that? There are really no such things as 'Asian Weddings', because Asia is after all, a continent (well, with a few islands thrown in!) with several different cultures and traditions - not to mention several more cultures and traditions within each particular Asian country as well. So, for this week's update, we'll focus on the beautiful country of India, and will feature several more Asian-themed weddings from other Asian countries over the coming months. O.k. so to India. When I think of India I think of one word: color. India has to be the most colorful nation on earth. The magnificent Indian Color Festival otherwise known as Holi http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holi is a tradition which will be celebrated from the 27th Marc...

Country Weddings Part 2 ~~ Maldon, Vic, Australia

In part 1 of our country wedding special, we suggested a great way to host a country wedding would be to 'borrow' a friend or relative's rural property for the day. However, of course, not everybody knows someone who owns or has access to a farm. So, if you have your heart set on a country wedding, what to do, where to go? Last week I wrote that the main attraction for couples who want a country wedding is the homespun, natural feel that country weddings provide. The rustic charm of being surrounded by leafy country lanes, wandering farm animals, rusty old sheds, hay bales and cosy farmhouses with lots of character often carries with it the most unique ingredient of all: history. That particular element isn't something you can easily find in city venues.    The historic town of Maldon, Victoria, Australia, is both an ideal, and idyllic location for a country wedding. So yes, look to the country for some historical, full-on charm. Nothing beats the ...
